Mental Health Support Officer

Salary range £24,574 – £30,228 per annum pro rata
Duration Fixed term for 12 months
Working hours 28 hours per week
Location An agreed partner location

The post of Mental Health Support Officer is a new post within the Mental Health and Counselling Team which sits within Student Services. This role is a fixed term project, funded by Barclay’s for 1 year.

The Mental Health Support Officer will work to support the needs of students who struggle with mental health and mental wellbeing, relationship conflicts, personality, and social adjustment issue and to play a role in safeguarding and protection of vulnerable students. This can be done through direct intervention, or through signposting or referring to specialist services. The Mental Health Support Officer will be an advocate for student success and possess a demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage adverse caseload.

You will also be required to work with groups, offering workshops, short courses and delivering wellbeing related and psychoeducational presentations. You will be expected to liaise with other members of the Mental Health and Counselling staff team, as well as with other Student Support staff within the University, the University’s Student Mental Health Practitioner Network and to participate in team meetings, conferences, and training events.

An important aspect of the work will be the administrative support of the service and to support the Mental Health and Counselling Manager who leads this work.

The post holder will work closely with other members of the student support team.
