In Falkirk we are proud and passionate about the work we do. Towards achieving our ambition to be recognised as a high-performing Health and Social Care Partnership, we have a sustained investment in our Social Work Training and Workforce Development Service.

We have created the new Learning and Development Manager (Adult Services) position to provide leadership and build capacity in the delivery and evaluation of a comprehensive programme of learning and development for our adult social work services workforce. In this role you will also work to an agreed Adult Support and Protection (ASP) multi-agency Learning and Development plan, reporting to the ASP Learning and Development Sub-group and ASP Committee on the implementation of the plan.

You will collaborate with the Learning and Development Manager (Children & Families) to provide integrated workforce development opportunities that support learning across the lifespan. You will work in collaboration with HSCP services and our Team Managers to ensure learning and development plans reflect priorities, are responsive to need and offer best value.

You must hold a degree/diploma or equivalent qualification in Social Work, and you must also be registered or in the process of registering with the Scottish Social Services Council. This post is exempt under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.

Why you should consider Falkirk as the next step in your Social Work career.

We are proud to have a workforce with values that promote human rights, social justice, and professional integrity. We recognise the importance of diversity within our organisation that reflects the communities we serve.

We have a dynamic and forward-thinking workforce, who are committed to making a positive difference for people accessing services. Trauma informed, relationships and strengths based social work sits at the heart of our practice.

We promote a workforce culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be at their best at work. This supports our mission to be recognised as a learning organisation promoting openness, creativity, and experimentation across the workforce.

We work hard to develop our staff and expose them to a wide range of opportunities. We encourage our workforce to acquire and share knowledge, information, and resources. We nurture innovation, including service co-design that’s shaped by lived experiences and we provide freedom to try new things, to risk failure and to learn from mistakes and both promising and good practice.

When it comes to taking care of our employees, we are proud to offer:

  • Supportive team structure
  • Time for reflective supervision
  • A culture where your voice matters and opportunities are available to shape how we work together as a service and across the HSCP and wider partnerships.
  • Bespoke training and a range of career development opportunities
  • Generous annual leave entitlement and enhanced leave scheme (purchase up to two weeks holiday).
  • Competitive salary
  • Excellent Local Government pension scheme and employee benefits and rewards scheme
  • Car Leasing and Cycle to Work Schemes
