Brockenhurst College has an exciting opportunity for an Intensive Support and Safeguarding Officer to join their dedicated and enthusiastic team. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £26,434 – £31,437 per annum.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

As an Intensive Support and Safeguarding Officer your priorities will be:

– Supporting students with complex mental health and welfare needs and those with Social Workers

– The designated point of contact for Looked After Children and Care Leavers

– Monitoring and assessing the progress of students receiving intensive support

– Working closely with other relevant College staff to ensure a holistic approach to student support

– Taking a lead role in the Safeguarding responsibilities of the College

Our idealIntensive Support and Safeguarding Officer will need:

– Educational qualification to at least GCSE standard or equivalent.

– Professional qualification in relevant area.

– Proven track record of success in supporting students with complex health and welfare needs.

– Proven ability to work with parents/guardians in supporting young people.

– Previous work with young people, either through voluntary work, paid employment or family life.

– Experience of multi-agency team working to support individual students.

– Proven ability to work in a reciprocal manner with colleagues to support students

– Knowledge and understanding of SEND/Code of Practice reforms and Education, Health and Care Plans.

– Knowledge and understanding of strategies for working with students with mental health issues.

– Knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and progression routes.

– Knowledge and understanding of health and safety requirements and risk assessments.

– Knowledge and understanding of relevant policies and legislation.

– Knowledge and understanding of College policies and procedures related to individual students, in particular

safeguarding, equality and diversity and disciplinary policies.

– Some knowledge of First Aid
