Job overview

We are looking for a registered health or social care professional with wealth of safeguarding expertise and experience to lead on all things safeguarding in our organisation.

We are looking for someone who is friendly and engaging,  with excellent leadership skills and a passion for safeguarding .  You must have the ability to be strategic and operational , supporting the development and delivery of our safeguarding approach and strategy as well as leading on the  implementation of responsive, caring and effective safeguarding practice across our services in line with national legislation, national and local guidelines and best practice.

Main duties of the job

The Head of Safeguarding will provide leadership and management of all aspects of safeguarding across our Organisation.

The post holder will be a key player in the integrated care system and work  in collaboration with safeguarding teams across the Integrated Care Systems where we deliver services.

The post holder will have a high profile and improve the standard of safeguarding knowledge and practice within the services both within Provide  and the wider health and care system

The post holder will directly line manage and hold budget responsibility for the Safeguarding team

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Be responsible for all aspects of safeguarding
Develop and achieve the Safeguarding Strategy and report on progress to the Board and Quality & Safety Committee
Work to ensure that safeguarding practice meets the requirements of the Care Quality Commission standards and contribute to the achievement
of a good or outstanding CQC rating across all services
Ensure comprehensive and robust systems and processes are in place for the protection of vulnerable adults and children and ensure effective
working relationships with social care and relevant partner agencies to keep people safe
Effectively line manage and hold budget responsibility for the Safeguarding team within the Provide Group of companies as well as for
safeguarding staff /teams within the community collaborative as the integration of the safeguarding functions across the collaborative merge.
Act as a role model and be a visible clinical leader
Proactively develop and review policies, guidelines and protocols for the management of safeguarding ensuring they remain up to date, relevant and reflect best practice.
Work collaboratively and promote excellent working relationships with all colleagues across the Provide Group and integrated care systems in which we work
Develop and deliver teaching and training programmes for all clinical and non -clinical staff
Ensure board assurance is maintained and provided via agreed escalation, communication and reporting channel

Experience and qualifications

Essential criteria

  • significant and relevant experience working in senior safeguarding leadership roles
  • masters level qualification or equivalent experience

Professional registration

Essential criteria

  • Must have current professional registration with a Health or Social Care professional body

Desirable criteria

  • leadership qualification
