About the role

This is an exciting and interesting opportunity for someone with substantial experience as a safeguarding lead or advisor in education.

You will provide leadership and direction to safeguarding leads from educational settings across the city; identify and complete appropriate training for them and provide support and advice to school safeguarding staff.  Key elements of this work include: running the Brighton & Hove Education Safeguarding Network; undertaking case level audits and learning reviews; devising and delivering training for Designated Safeguarding Leads.

You will be responsible for education, as an agency, within the Front Door For Families and be the key point of contact to support the contribution of schools to the multi-agency response to safeguarding concerns for children and young people across the city.  The Education Safeguarding Officer represents the interests of schools to the Brighton & Hove Safeguarding Children Partnership. You will also direct the Section 175 audit of safeguarding arrangements within all educational settings across the city, and evaluate and analyse the resulting data, devising intervention plans where necessary.

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and upload a supporting statement. Your supporting statement is the most important part of your application as it will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Supporting statement guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk)) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
