We are seeking to appoint a permanent Safeguarding Manager to provide leadership and management within Education and Learning Directorate.  You will work 35 hours per week over 52 weeks of the year.

Working within the Supporting Learners Service, we are looking for a highly skilled individual with significant experience of safeguarding including child protection procedures, inclusion and wellbeing (GiRFEC), to strategically lead and provide operational direction for the Directorate in delivering high quality services for children and young people.

With excellent relationship and communication skills, you will manage and promote change and work extensively with partners to meet our Councils priorities for children and young people and to support their successful delivery.

What is the role?

You will play a lead role in key strategic initiatives, in relation to safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing including learning and development and quality assurance.

You will manage, direct and develop policies and procedures in relation to safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing that are required by schools, stakeholders, and local and national educational partners. This will include multi-agency policies and procedures.

You will manage, direct and develop provision as required, including Children Missing from Education.

Provide advice and guidance to schools in relation to safeguarding, child protection and wellbeing issues.

Lead on the implementation of relevant safeguarding and inclusion programmes.

You will represent the directorate within Public Protection structures.

What do you need to bring to the Role?

Educated to degree level and must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UTin Primary or Secondary education.

Management and safeguarding experience.

Experience of working with local and national partners.

Knowledge/

Knowledge of key aspects of Education and Children’s services legislation, policy, planning and service delivery.

Experience of formulating policy.

Experience of communicating at a strategic level on policy development and performance management.
