• Do you want to make a difference where it most counts?
• Can you lead and improve existing high-quality Inclusion, Safeguarding and Restorative Approaches
to behaviour?
Stormont House School is an exceptional and widely-respected special school whose pupils achieve up
to GCSE/BTEC levels. We became one of the first outstanding schools in the country in 2005 and have
improved at each of the 3 full inspections since then (most recently in 2018). We were in the first group
of special schools to receive the World-Class Schools Quality Mark and work with other schools as a
National Support School and as a lead school within the Hackney Teaching Schools’ Alliance.
We are unblinkingly focused on continual improvement, and this position plays a vital part in leading us
towards our vision of ‘Achievement for All in a Unique World-Class School’. We serve a richly diverse
community and welcome applications form all sections of the community, regardless of gender, race,
religion, disability, sexual orientation, or age. If you are passionate about the difference an excellent
school can make to young people’s ability to learn, express themselves and become active global
citizens, please read on.
This post has become available through planned relocation. We are looking for someone who is a
strategic leader and is also a first-class teacher. This role focuses on Inclusion & Safeguarding in their
deepest and broadest senses. We have a tightly-knit senior leadership team supported by skilled middle
leaders, who are all committed to their own learning as well as developing others. The staff are excellent,
and the students are terrific.
Please look at the uploaded documents and, if they strike a chord, ring Toni Altinok on (020) 8985 4245
to book an informal discussion about the position with the Headteacher, Kevin McDonnell. Special school
experience or qualifications are not requirements, but genuine reasons for wanting to work in this field
are.
We will not consider applicants who have not taken the trouble to find out about the school and/or send
in ‘generic’ supporting statements or CVs. We are committed to safeguarding our young people: in
addition to an enhanced DBS check, one of your referees MUST be your current or most recent
Headteacher (or equivalent), and references will be taken prior to interview.
For an informal after-school discussion please email recruitment@stormonthouse.hackney.sch.uk
Deadline for Applications 9am Monday 10 May. Interviews Friday 14 and Tuesday 18 May
