Your hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday), 52 weeks per year.

Your employment: Full time, permanent.

With the continuation of exciting changes happening at North Kent College, following our joining with Hadlow and West Kent Colleges in summer 2020, we’ve created a new management role within Student Support to plan, organise and deploy student welfare and safeguarding services.

Reporting directly to the Head of Student Welfare & Safeguarding Services, you’ll be a key member of our management team, taking a lead role with the development of the Student Support provision, including a focus on health, wellbeing and safeguarding, to ensure a consistent and rigorous approach across all College sites.

As a Designated Safeguarding Lead, as well as taking responsibility for the coordination of the mental health provision, you’ll need to be a natural communicator with proven ability to develop positive relationships both internally and with third parties. You’ll also be adept at in responding efficiently to rapidly changing situations, having excellent time management and organisation skills.

Experience of safeguarding for young people is vital, as is managing student support in a Further Education environment. You’ll also need experience of working with counselling / mental health provision in an education setting.

You won’t be afraid to challenge people’s ideas when needed, and your own to check the approach is working. Last but not least, you’ll bring enthusiasm to make this key position your own.

In return, we’ll give you 33 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, and you’ll be enrolled onto the Local Government Pension Scheme which also includes life assurance. You’ll also benefit from free parking and have access to a range of onsite facilities including a nursery, restaurants and coffee shops.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students. All appointments are subject to the receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, providing it to the College for review.
