Job Purpose
At BPP, we believe that every student has the right to learn in a safe and inclusive environment. We are looking to recruit a positive and pro-active Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead on a full-time basis, to join the established Safeguarding Team within BPP Education Services.
We recognise the value of effective teamwork and this role will involve working directly with the DSL and providing advice and support to staff to ensure we maintain the safety and wellbeing of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and responding to Safeguarding and Prevent referrals from the inboxes and dedicated helpline (office hours).
- Must have a desire and determination to make a significant, positive contribution to the outcomes of our students.
- Maintaining a caseload as directed by the Head of Safeguarding
- Identifying the most appropriate Safeguarding support plan for individual students and scheduling regular contact to ensure they are supported
- Keeping detailed and accurate Safeguarding records according to BPP Group Safeguarding policies and procedures
- Maintenance of the central risk register ensuring confidentiality at all times
- Providing Safeguarding support to BPP staff as required
- Working closely with the BPP, Welfare, Inclusion and Learning Support teams
- Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of Safeguarding policies and procedures at BPP and in the wider education sector
- Maintaining open channels of communication with Safeguarding and Prevent partnership agencies
- Assisting with staff training, student engagement and standardisation in Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values
- Supporting the work of Education Services, as directed by the Pro Vice Chancellor
- Effectively undertaking any other duties as required.

Candidate criteria
Candidate Criteria
- Previous experience providing appropriate support working with students and an understanding of Safeguarding and Prevent issues and requirements
- Excellent ability to work proactively with a high level of organisational skill whilst managing complex and highly confidential information
- Experience of working autonomously, managing own workload efficiently and effectively
- Excellent time management, emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written communication and report writing skills
- Safeguarding Level 3 qualification is highly preferable
- Counselling qualification is desirable
- Recent experience of managing a safeguarding case load is favourable
