The SAMH Children and Young People teams delivers a diverse range of mental health services, projects and interventions across Scotland as well as a focus on developing information, materials and resources. These projects support individuals, families, schools, youth groups and colleges to build capability around mental health; increasing the emotional resilience; creating a mentally healthy community in schools and colleges and tackling stigma and discrimination around mental health

The CYP Service Manager role is critical to the team in managing the day to day operations of the projects and their performance, supporting redesign and development of services and working effectively with internal and external stakeholders to meet objectives. Current projects include direct engagement within learning communities in Glasgow, Helensburgh, Kilmarnock and Edinburgh. The role will act as key implementation manager for new projects.

The role will also support the expansion of training and consultancy work and the research and development of new training materials and workshops. This include supporting development of e-learning and digital resources.

Role Summary

The SAMH Children and Young People teams delivers a diverse range of mental health services, projects and interventions across Scotland as well as a focus on developing information, materials and resources. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To lead on the implementation of SAMH college, schools and community mental health models with work plans developed around existing logic models and following stakeholder engagement, to ensure co-design and a collaborative approach.

To work closely with the Children and Young People Development Manager in programme development and expansion, through existing and new partnerships and by supporting the business development bids, budget preparation, staff recruitment and induction.

Support the expansion of the SAMH Time for Me resilience programme by working with CAMHS and schools to develop alternative pathway for young people.

To line manage, develop and offer support and guidance to all CYP staff in delivering project objectives, their programme year plans and delivery including individual catch ups, team meetings, support & supervisions and annual appraisals, all in line with SAMH policies.

Support the project work of CYP consultants, associate trainers and counsellors.

To support the monitoring and evaluation of the programmes, with quarterly, bi-annual and annual progress reports on outcomes and with findings informing future work recommendations and programme development.

To work with SAMH CYP Team to evaluate all trainings and develop and strengthen training courses relating to children and young people, in response to trainee feedback and relevant service/legal/policy changes.

To work with other SAMH staff to develop a programme of presentations & workshops to schools colleges and youth organisations depending on the particular and bespoke needs and requests of the different organisations.

To support the development of Schools Trainer and peer work by facilitating a wide range of SAMH trainings to schools/colleges involved in the Mentally Healthy Schools/Colleges Programmes (& SAMH staff) including Mental Health Awareness/First Aid, Asist, Safe Talk and Suicide Talk, Safeguarding, CBT programmens etc.

To facilitate “training for trainers” to SAMH staff and volunteers, Mentally Healthy School/College pupils, students, parents/carers & other partners, in relation to defined training courses and by working in partnership with the HR team

To represent SAMH and promote the Children and Young People programme at meetings, networks, working groups and other events.
