Role Purpose
We currently have 2 full time vacancies for Child Protection Reviewing Officers, based in the Public Protection Unit in Galashiels. The is a small team of Reviewing Officers with responsibility for chairing child protection and LAAC meetings for our young people across the authority; ensuring that plans are child focused and working to develop families engagement in a strength based manner. Additional to this, the post includes responsibility to offer a duty service on a rotational basis – conducting IRD’s and working with teams to implement actions required to reduce identified risk. The Public Protection Unit is under development and expansion and this post offers an opportunity to be part of this exciting change. This would be an ideal progression for a social worker who has significant experience and is looking for a new challenge in their career.
Essential
Appropriate social work qualification at degree level or diploma level (DipSW).
Registration with SSSC.
Post graduate certificate in Child Care and Protection.
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.* SBC offer inclusion into the scheme for pool cars and therefore use of personal vehicle would be limited to times when pool cars are fully booked. *If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account it’s responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.
