Location: London (the successful candidate will initially work remotely however from June onwards there is a requirement to attend the office in Islington and the BRC Destitution Centre at Hackney twice per week at a minimum)

 

Could you provide advice, support, and advocacy to people in crisis as a result of their migration status?

We are looking for a Casework Coordinator to join our London Refugee Support team to coordinate and deliver our casework and destitution services for refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants.

You will undertake a range of duties in developing, maintaining and promoting these services in London. This will include developing and managing a team of volunteers to assist with service delivery. It will also include enabling people with lived experiences to contribute to service delivery, design and development.

You will work closely with fellow project and casework coordinators in the wider area, as part of a diverse and dynamic operational team.

This is a rewarding role, requiring excellent advocacy and communication skills, with the ability to work sensitively and remain calm under pressure.

Our London Support team provides vital practical, emotional, casework and orientation support to adults, families and children affected by asylum and immigration issues. Through effective signposting, referrals, advice and advocacy support we enable our service users to access the help and services they need.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate you have the essential knowledge, skills and experience we are looking for, including:

-Knowledge of the rights and entitlements of asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants and the roles of statutory and non-statutory agencies.

-Experience of delivering casework with vulnerable clients.
-Ability to support, manage and develop volunteers.
-Organisational and time management skills – planning, managing, monitoring and prioritising own and others workload.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
-Ability to work as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
-Willingness to undertake travel throughout the area as agreed with manager.

Refugee Support provides core services to asylum seekers and refugees, including Orientation, Destitution Support including casework, Family Reunion Integration and Travel Assistance.

The British Red Cross Refugee Support work closely with the refugee sector and wider community partners participating in City Wide forums to promote access to services and support integration.
