About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to part of our safeguarding and support service as a Advanced Social Work Practitioner. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in facilitating the learning of others and contributing to the development of the work force through modelling excellence, mentoring and coaching. You will have developed or develop your own specialism and lead the team in an agreed area of practice. You will work as a lead professionals and undertake work autonomously with the most challenging and high-risk cases providing an exemplary service in line with statutory requirements and departmental priorities. You will be responsible for the monthly team group supervisions to develop good practice, and to reflect and advise on complex and high-risk cases.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

The Safeguarding and Support Teams work with families and children from Child in Need through to Adoption. There is scope for a varied caseload that requires professional curiosity, commitment, and creativity. There are opportunities to develop your skills further and a high level of supervision is provided to enable you to have the skills and confidence to deliver the highest standards of social work to our families, young people, and children. At full capacity the Team comprises of a Team Manager, 2 Assistant Team Managers, 2 Advance Practitioners, and 11 Social Workers, and four student social workers. The Team is committed to supporting each other and offer group supervision sessions monthly to develop a positive and supportive team culture.

About You

  • You will have considerable experience within statutory social work and have a specialist interest area that you are knowledgeable and passionate about and have the ability to support the learning of less experienced staff.
  • You have the ability to manage a complex caseload working with a high degree of personal accountability and autonomy.
  • You will have expertise in a specialist field (agreed with the Departmental Leadership Team) acting as a resource to the team and department to develop practice, engage in research and evaluation of practice.
  • You will Undertake student supervision and mentoring of less experienced staff and to encourage creativity and innovation when co-working cases whilst ensuring practice is focused on safeguarding and within the Council’s policies and procedures.
