Safer Organisations

Course outline:
A safer organisation starts with a robust safeguarding culture. This interactive seminar brings leaders together to consider the various elements of the safer organisation. There will be an opportunity to work together, network and consider critical practice questions in each topic section. Delegates should come away from this seminar feeling more confident and enthused about the elements of a safer organisation and the plans they have in their own organisations for continuous development.
Training topics will include:
- Setting the safeguarding culture
- Safer Recruitment and the Single Central Record
- The probationary period and beyond
- Managing Low-level-concerns
- Working with your LADO
- Picking up the pieces
Learning outcomes:
- Delegates will consider the various strategic and operational elements of safer organisations practice
- Delegates will have an opportunity to network, discuss and consider critical questions relating to safer organisations practice
- Delegates will consider the implications of IICSA recommendations including mandatory reporting
- Delegates will increase confidence and consider how they further development of safer organisations practice in their own organisation

Claire Dan, Director of Safeguarding and Director, Sacpa
Claire is Director of Safeguarding and Director, Sacpa and leads on the provision of safeguarding advice and support to members and the development and delivery of CPD and safeguarding consultancy services. Claire is a safeguarding specialist and leader with a background in education welfare, youth justice, and early help contexts which have involved a strong focus on diverse and collaborative partnerships, professional development and supervision of front-line safeguarding colleagues, and leading multi-disciplinary teams and projects. Between 2006 and 2013 Claire was involved with Luton Safeguarding Children Board as a lead multi-agency safeguarding trainer, developing and delivering single and multi-agency safeguarding training, and since 2013 has delivered pieces of bespoke consultancy work, and providing a range of safeguarding consultancy on a freelance basis.
