DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO SUPPORT SCOTTISH SWIMMING IN MANAGING WELLBEING AND PROTECTION CASES AND LEADING ON POLICY DEVELOPMENT?

Scottish Swimming is looking to appoint a full-time Safeguarding Manager to work alongside the CEO and Director of Services. We are open to discussing a full or part-time appointment with the successful candidate.

The role will be key in helping drive forward safeguarding, wellbeing and protection activity for Scottish Swimming and to place safeguarding at the centre of all Scottish Swimming activities.

As Safeguarding Manager, you will be the first point of contact for dealing with safeguarding, wellbeing and protection cases, and in supporting our network of club Wellbeing and Protection Officers in their management of cases.

You will work closely with key groups to ensure that Scottish Swimming’s policies, procedures and practice are up to date and implemented in line with legislation.

Key Functions:

  • Lead with primary responsibility for safeguarding, providing advice and guidance to Scottish Swimming, your colleagues, our members and clubs
  • Direct management of all safeguarding, wellbeing & protection cases and ensuring effective use of the case management system
  • Lead on the review and development of Scottish Swimming policies to ensure they meet current legislation and work with the services team to ensure that new legislation is implemented across clubs and the organisation
  • Develop and implement plans for training and upskilling club volunteers and Scottish Swimming staff to ensure they comply with appropriate legislation and Standards for Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport

Based at Scottish Swimming HQ, on the University of Stirling campus, and with the flexibility for home working the successful candidate will take a person-centred rights-based approach, ensuring the voices and views of those who are the most vulnerable amongst us are protected and heard, keeping them at the heart of what we do.  You will also have proven experience in dealing with and managing safeguarding, wellbeing and protection cases; with the ability to lead and manage your own work program and meet tight deadlines. Good communication and influencing skills are a must as is being a strong team player.

The Safeguarding Manager will be required to work flexibly, managing your time effectively and may involve working some evenings, weekends and over public holidays to meet the needs of the organisation.
