DESCRIPTION:DSL Training\nThis course is suitable for staff in the role of designated safeguarding lead (DSL) and deputy designated safeguarding lead (DDSL). The training will enable you to meet statutory responsibilities referenced in Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children. \nThis course is provided by an NSPCC accredited trainer and qualified social work manager of 20 years. \n  \nCost \n\n£185 members\n£370 non-members.\n\n  \nEntry requirements: \n\nBasic Child Protection Training.\n\n  \nCourse details: \n\nUnderstanding the threshold of child protection including a deeper understanding of neglect & emotional abuse\nThe latest additional safeguarding concerns\, including:\n\nFemale Genital Mutilation\nChild Sexual Exploitation\nTackling extremism\n\n\nStrategies to raise awareness in staff\nThe legislative framework and statutory compliance\nSafeguarding files and accurate recordings\nUnderstanding safeguarding risks\nThinking the unthinkable\nLearning the lessons from Serious Case Reviews\nCreating best practice systems and procedures\nKey elements of a professional code of conduct\nThe role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead & Governor.\n\n  \nCourse Objectives: \n\nRevise knowledge concerning abuse\, Childcare legislation and information sharing\nEnsure commitment to putting children and their rights at the heart of the safeguarding\nprocess\nIncrease knowledge of up to date local information regarding safeguarding and protection of\nchildren and implications for services\nIncrease confidence in supporting staff who are working with children and their families\nIncrease understanding in the use of reflective practice\nIncrease knowledge of LSCB procedures and the interface with agency procedures\nIncrease the understanding of the Serious Case Review process and lessons learned\nIncrease confidence in interagency working as a manager/designated person.\n\n  \nBy the end of the course participants will understand: \n\nTheir roles and responsibilities\nThresholds of Child Protection\nPathways of need and referrals.\n\n
