SUMMARY:Webinar: What's new - Online safety update
DESCRIPTION:More and more of our dealings with people\, businesses\, even education now takes place online. With that in mind\, staying current with what’s new online\, especially for children and teens\, and the associated risks and safety guidance is of vital importance. \nResearch is showing that children and young people are spending increasing amounts of time online – the pandemic has only served to exacerbate this. It is impossible to talk about safeguarding today without talking about the digital/online aspect of that. Many of us still talk about online v offline but children and young people don’t – this is their world and we have to have some understanding of it if we are to help them to navigate it safely. In this post-lockdown period we are expecting many young people to disclose problems and challenges that they have faced in the past couple of months and schools and other professionals need to be ready to react and respond. \nKarl Hopwood\, an esafety expert who works with professionals and young people to promote digital literacy and safer online behaviours will present what’s new in online safety for adults working with young people to be aware of. The session will make sure that you are as up to date as possible with latest developments in a fast moving space and will share what we actually know about the challenges children and young people are facing online as well as the benefits they have from using tech. \nTraining aims: \n\nOverview of the current state of play with online safety\nWhat impact has the COVID-19 situation had?\nWhat are young people doing online\, what has changed?\nWhat are the latest apps to look out for?\nLatest updates for schools from government\, and latest resources\nWhat should the priorities be in this post-lockdown phase?\n\nCost: \n\nMember rate: £50\nNon-member rate: £100*\n\n*If you would like to become a member and access discounted rates for Sacpa CPD and events\, please click here.\n  \n \nWebinar host: Karl Hopwood\, independent esafety expert\, UK Safer Internet Centre advisory board and Sacpa advisory board \n\nKarl is an independent esafety expert. SUMMARY:Webinar: professional abuse in schools - trends and implications for practice
DESCRIPTION:It is essential that those who hold responsibility for protecting children in schools and / or as case managers are aware of the broad range of behaviours that fall under the umbrella of an ‘allegation of abuse against staff’. It is also crucial that they understand the arrangements that they should have in place to minimise the risk of children being harmed in their care. \nThis webinar looks at the learning from recent known cases of professional abuse and the IICSA inquiry\, and begins to consider what schools can do to minimise the risk of inappropriate or harmful conduct by staff towards pupils. \nAudience: DSLs\, DDSLs\, senior leadership team\, designated governors\, HR. \nTraining aims: To provide delegates with an overview of recent developments in our understanding of professional abuse in education settings. \nOutcomes: Delegates will be able to: \n\nDescribe the range of behaviours that constitute ‘professional abuse’\nIdentify some of the recurring themes identified in known cases\nExplain how robust policies and practice can minimise the risk of children being harmed by a member of staff.\n\nCost: \n\nMember rate: £50\nNon-member rate: £100*\n\n*If you would like to become a member and access discounted rates for Sacpa CPD and events\, please click here.\n  \n \n  \nWebinar host: Carolyn Eyre\, Independent Consultant & member of the Safer Recruitment Consortium\nCarolyn Eyre is an independent safeguarding consultant\, working with schools\, multi-academy trusts\, FE colleges\, local authorities and LSCPs across England.
