DESCRIPTION:Course outline: \nThis programme is also available on a consultancy basis delivered face to face. \nThis Safer Recruitment Consortium accredited training course is the widely accepted UK standard for safer recruitment recognised by the government. Statutory Guidance outlines that at least one member of every appointment panel for roles involving work with children must undertake ‘proper’ safe recruitment training. \nThe Safer Recruitment Consortium has developed a Safer Recruitment package for the wider children’s workforce (this course) where previously this was solely aimed at those in the education sector. He is also qualified as the following: \n\nFamily Liaison Officer (FLO)\nDisaster Victim Identification Officer (DVI)\nSignificant Witness interviewer (Sig Wit)\nEnhanced Cognitive Witness Interviewer\nDomestic Abuse Officer\nPIP Level 2 investigator\nAchieving Best Evidence (ABE- VRI vulnerable and intimidated witness interviewer)\nSpecialist Child Abuse Investigative Development Programme (SCAIDP)\nJoint Investigator – Section 47 Children Act ‘89\n\nPhilip was also seconded to the Training Department for 2 years\, where he received qualifications in training and delivered all these subjects\, including Harmful Sexual Behaviours (HSB). \nPhilip is a qualified AIM3 Assessor of children displaying HSB. \nPhilip also quality assured the Home Office Harmful Sexual Behaviours Support Service (HSBSS) where he oversaw and triaged all the requests for support and advised personally on all the complex cases. \nPhilip supports survivors and families who have been victim of all types of abuse\, including technology assisted child sexual abuse (TACSA) through his work as a consultant for the Marie Collins Foundation.

In July 2019 he also assumed responsibility for the BSA’s training programme\, including both day seminars and accredited training courses. Dale leads on all safeguarding and inspection matters for the BSA\, including managing the Commitment to Care Charter and has also developed a process of BSA Accreditation for our international members. He also liaises with ISI\, Ofsted and DfE on matters relating to compliance and inspection standards\, and compiles the BSA Self-Assessment toolkit\, which he first produced in 2002\, since which time he has been closely involved in inspection in state and independent boarding. \nFor 31 years Dale was a boarding practitioner. After boarding positions at Norwich School and Tettenhall College\, Dale became a Housemaster at Old Swinford Hospital in 1992\, and was promoted to Deputy Head in 2007\, and subsequently also DSL. He has also been a multi-agency trainer for the Dudley Safeguarding Children’s Board.

DESCRIPTION:  \nSacpa coffee morning forums are networking events\, free for members and £65 for non-members\, which run monthly throughout most of the year. These events form part of the Sacpa mission to bring safeguarding leaders and practitioners together for mutual support and learning. \nEach month safeguarding leads and practitioners meet online to network around a specific safeguarding theme. DESCRIPTION:Course outline: \nThis webinar considers some key principles and practices around updating safeguarding and code of conduct policies. It was whilst working as an Integrated Offender Manager (IOM) that she developed a greater understanding of the issues of exploitation\, serious youth violence and trauma. \nNikki recognised that as much as she had a passion for policing\, she wanted to use the knowledge she had acquired to support children and young people\, rather than as she described ” be complicit in punishing them for their abuse.” This resulted in her taking the brave step of leaving a job she thought she would do for life. \nThe next step for Nikki was to work in the field of substance misuse\, where she managed and developed a young person’s substance misuse service in Warwickshire. She led the development of Hidden Harm Pathways\, ensuring that children of parents dependent on substances were no longer invisible and in receipt of the support they needed. This work was recognised by the CQC as an exemplar of outstanding and innovative practice that should be replicated nationally. \nIn May 2017\, Nikki joined the CQC as a Children’s services inspector where she led and contributed to a range of National Review processes including LA SEND inspections\, JTAI’s and Children Looked After and Safeguarding (CLAS) reviews. She also managed a portfolio of children’s homes\, supporting them to meet the complex needs of children in a way that was responsive and trauma informed. She remains a bank Children’s Services Inspector today. (CSI) \nIn 2020\, in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic\, Nikki launched Safer Together. “For me\, the pandemic was a moment of clarity\, a moment where I reflected on what I learnt as a CSI and a moment where I thought I want to share the learning to support fatigued practitioners and systems to navigate the complexities of the world our children live in\, to come together\, work together to make society safer.” \nIn addition to heading Safer Together\, Nikki is also an accredited SILP reviewer and author of Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHRs)\, Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SARs) and Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews (CSPRs). She is also a researcher\, and a visiting lecturer of criminology and psychology. \nIn the little spare time she has\, she fills her cup by spending as much time with her two boys\, Joe and Flynn\, the two not so little people who inspire her every day to be better and do better so that their world\, and the world for their children is a safer\, fairer and a more compassionate place.

SUMMARY:DSL certificate for educational guardians

SUMMARY:Safer recruitment certificate
DESCRIPTION:Course outline: \nThis programme is also available on a consultancy basis delivered face to face.  \nThis Safer Recruitment Consortium accredited training course is the widely accepted UK standard for safer recruitment recognised by the government. Statutory Guidance outlines that at least one member of every appointment panel for roles involving work with children must undertake ‘proper’ safe recruitment training. \nThe Safer Recruitment Consortium has developed a Safer Recruitment package for the wider children’s workforce (this course) where previously this was solely aimed at those in the education sector. He holds extensive experience tackling a wide range of complex radicalisation cases in various roles\, including as a Social Worker within Children’s Services\, as Channel Coordinator within Prevent and as the Prevent Practitioner/Deputy Named Safeguarding Professional within an NHS mental health Trust. Furthermore\, Thomas is a PhD candidate in Social Work and Social Care investigating the radicalisation of young men and the role of masculinity in violent extremism. \nThomas is a qualified Social Worker with a background in Children’s services and holds years of experience in multi-agency safeguarding work. His work spans across safeguarding children and adults from a range of harms\, including domestic abuse\, sexual exploitation\, criminal exploitation\, county lines\, modern slavery and radicalisation. Thomas is passionate about supporting professionals to respond to safeguarding concerns\, and is using his PhD research to build a practical tool to support social workers to assess and safeguard males whom are vulnerable to radicalisation. \nIn his current role as Prevent Practitioner/Deputy Named Safeguarding Professional within Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT)\, Thomas provides regular trainings to staff and teams across the Trust\, including Prevent Awareness\, Workshop to Raise Awareness on Prevent (WRAP)\, and Safeguarding Adults. Thomas also offers regular expert consultations to support staff to respond to complex radicalisation concerns across the Trust\, and is the SPFT representative in the Prevent’s Channel Panels across Sussex that provide a multi-agency approach to safeguarding those assessed as vulnerable to radicalisation. Moreover\, Thomas contributes to the development and updating of Policy within SPFT to structurally respond to emerging safeguarding concerns regarding radicalisation. \nOver the years\, Thomas has gathered substantial knowledge and practical expertise on the multi-faceted dynamics of safeguarding and radicalisation. His unique position of both working in and researching on this issue provides unique insights into this complex area of safeguarding. Thomas is available to deliver Prevent training to a range of organisations\, which will cover the key features of Prevent Awareness and Prevent WRAP\, including CONTEST\, the statutory duty under Counter Terrorism Security Act 2015 known as the ‘Prevent Duty’\, Vulnerabilities to Radicalisation\, Extremist Ideology and groups\, Current Threat Level\, and the Channel Panel process. Thomas will provide an opportunity to have a nuanced and critical discussion about this important and complex area of safeguarding.
