SUMMARY:Sacpa half-day seminar - Learning from Serious Case Reviews: influencing our practice
DESCRIPTION:Course outline: \nLessons from Serious Case Reviews and Rapid Reviews have influenced the legislative framework\, statutory guidance and practice for safeguarding and child protection for decades. Regular bi-annual reviews and thematic research papers have enhanced our understanding of the importance of multi-agency working\, the impact of adverse childhood experiences and the co-existence of factors which are an important part of the picture in helping us develop our practice. \nAs we emerged from the peak of the pandemic\, sadly there have been a cluster of child deaths reported in the media and we await serious case review. This seminar revisits serious case reviews past and present and presents an analysis of published overview data from serious case reviews that took place in 2021 and the first quarter of 2022. Claire is a safeguarding specialist and leader with a background in education welfare\, youth justice\, and early help contexts which have involved a strong focus on diverse and collaborative partnerships\, professional development and supervision of front-line safeguarding colleagues\, and leading multi-disciplinary teams and projects.  Between 2006 and 2013 Claire was involved with Luton Safeguarding Children Board as a lead multi-agency trainer\, developing and delivering single and multi-agency safeguarding training\, and since 2013 has delivered pieces of bespoke consultancy work\, and providing a range of safeguarding consultancy on a freelance basis.
