SUMMARY:Sacpa half-day seminar - Best practice for early help and safeguarding interventions
DESCRIPTION:Course content: \nThis seminar is developed at intermediate level in the Sacpa academy CPD offer. \nIn safeguarding and child protection\, the promotion of specific help or support to address a concern is commonly referred to as an intervention.  Early intervention\, or early help\, is frequently referred to when a family or child needs support and is the recommended action rather than waiting for a situation to escalate. \nThis seminar is developed at intermediate level on the Sacpa academy CPD offer.  It will use case studies to demonstrate the recommended process of implementing\, managing\, reporting and closing interventions and support to promote the best outcomes for the person/people receiving the help\, those delivering it\, and all other parties within the setting.  Delegates will be engaged in discussion\, feedback and groupwork using case study. \nTraining topics will include:  \n\nAssessment of the safeguarding need and implementation of strategies\nManaging\, reporting and decision making\nExit strategies\nExploring professional boundaries.\n\nLearning Outcomes: \n\nExplore safeguarding interventions and how these can vary\nUnderstand the need to monitor and report interventions/help\nExplore recommended methodology for implementing and withdrawing interventions.\n\nAudience : \n\nPastoral support roles\nBehaviour and learning support roles\nMental health leads\nSENCO’s\nSafeguarding leads\nFamily support practitioners and family workers\nVolunteers delivering intervention work and support to vulnerable families\nYouth work professionals\nYouth justice intervention workers\nTrustees\, governors\, proprietors and service managers wishing to explore the delivery and outcomes / impact measurement and recording of early help.\n\nCost: \n\nMember Rate: £100\nAffiliate Members: £150\nNon-member Rate: £200*\n\nBOOK NOW \n*If you would like to become a member and access discounted rates for Sacpa CPD and events\, please click here. \n\nSpeakers: \n \nDale Wilkins\, Senior Director\, BSA and BSA Group\n\nDale joined BSA Group during Summer 2017 with responsibility for safeguarding and standards. In July 2019 he also assumed responsibility for the BSA’s accredited training programme. Dale leads on all safeguarding and inspection matters for Sacpa and BSA Group\, including managing the Commitment to Care Charter\, and the Annual Safeguarding conference. He has completed “Training for Trainers” with NSPCC and was for 10 years a multi-agency safeguarding trainer for Dudley Safeguarding Children Board. \nFor 31 years Dale was practitioner in boarding schools\, and a BSA course tutor since 1998. He was also for 10 years a school Designated Safeguarding Lead. Dale is currently developing new safeguarding products for Sacpa. \n\n \nClaire Dan\, Director of Safeguarding\, BSA Group and Director\, Sacpa \nClaire is Director of Safeguarding and Director\, Sacpa and leads on the provision of safeguarding advice and support to members and the development and delivery of CPD and safeguarding consultancy services. Claire is a safeguarding specialist and leader with a background in education welfare\, youth justice\, and early help contexts which have involved a strong focus on diverse and collaborative partnerships\, professional development and supervision of front-line safeguarding colleagues\, and leading multi-disciplinary teams and projects.  Between 2006 and 2013 Claire was involved with Luton Safeguarding Children Board as a lead multi-agency trainer\, developing and delivering single and multi-agency safeguarding training\, and since 2013 has delivered pieces of bespoke consultancy work\, and providing a range of safeguarding consultancy on a freelance basis.
