Coronavirus has had a significant impact beyond the medical worldwide. With nations going into periods of forced lockdown including school, workplace and facility closures there is not yet any evident way ‘back to normal’. For organisations working with young people, and schools in particular, Coronavirus has drastically changed how we work with, engage and support young people. It has also demonstrated the ongoing significance of having a developed culture of safeguarding and wellbeing as different risks and issues have become apparent.
Having just led his own school through the tumultuous first half of 2020, Dr Steve Bailey will present five key steps to reviewing and updating your safeguarding policies and procedures, using lessons learned during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Dr Steve Bailey was Headmaster at Twyford School for the last 10 years, previously teaching History at Winchester College for 29 years where he was Senior Housemaster and Designated Safeguarding Lead. He is an ISI Boarding and Team Inspector. Steve has served on the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Board for a number of years as well as being a member of the BSA Safeguarding Panel.
