Sacpa Annual Safeguarding Awards

This year, we are launching our inaugural Sacpa Annual Safeguarding Awards. These awards have been created to celebrate the achievements, hard work, and dedication of individuals and organisations across the world of safeguarding.

Nominations for this year’s awards are now open – we will be announcing the winners during our Digital Safeguarding Conference, which takes place on Wednesday, 9 February, 2022.

COVID-19 Safeguarding Award

This award recognises exceptional safeguarding work carried out by an organisation or individual during the COVID-19 pandemic. The judges will be looking for evidence of work undertaken and how it helped to safeguard vulnerable individuals throughout the coronavirus crisis.

International Safeguarding Award

This award recognises organisations or individuals who have demonstrated the values of safeguarding in international settings. The judges will be looking for nominees to demonstrate how they have made a positive contribution to global safeguarding.

Safeguarding Initiative Award

This award recognises an outstanding safeguarding initiative undertaken by an organisation or individual. The judges will be looking for initiatives which have successfully helped to safeguard high numbers of people; how the initiative was delivered, and evidence of positive results.

Outstanding Commitment to Safeguarding Award

This award recognises the outstanding safeguarding work of an organisation or individual over a significant period of time. The judges will be looking for nominees who can clearly demonstrate a strong and proven track record of making a positive difference in the world of safeguarding.

Safeguarding Inclusion Award

This award celebrates diversity and embedding a culture of inclusion. The judges will be looking for safeguarding projects or initiatives which have helped increase diversity and inclusion within an organisation’s day-to-day work and wider culture.

Entry requirements

Please write in no more than 500 words why you, your organisation or the individual you are nominating should win the award. Please make sure you include your name, organisation, and which award category you are entering.

Deadline extended

Please send your entries to by Monday, 31 January, 2022. Our panel of judges will then choose a shortlist of finalists for each category. Finalists will be notified during the week commencing Monday, 31 January, 2022, with the winners being announced at our Digital Safeguarding Conference on Wednesday, 9 February, 2022.


Sacpa Safeguarding Fellowship

We are also excited to launch the Sacpa Safeguarding Fellowship, giving an experienced member of the safeguarding community the chance to undertake a unique research opportunity.

We’ve launched this initiative to help improve standards of safeguarding for member organisations by encouraging the creation and sharing of member-led research.

The successful applicant will also be announced at the Digital Safeguarding Conference on 9 February. The fellow will present their findings at our next Annual Safeguarding Conference in November 2022. Sacpa will also contribute £500 towards expenses for the fellowship.
