Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry: Boarding school pupils discouraged from reporting abuse

The headmaster of a military boarding school offered an apology as he described discouraging pupils from reporting abuse as a “disgrace.”

Donald Shaw, of Queen Victoria School (QVS) in Dunblane, was giving evidence to the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry on Wednesday.

He said he had mistakenly presumed the investigation would just be about adult sexual assaults on children.

And he revealed that it was upon reading witness statements he became aware of “significant” potential instances of peer-on-peer abuse during the school’s history.
