Safeguarding in the workplace: Government publishes major review into domestic abuse in the workplace

8th February, 2021 3:30 pm

On 14 January, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy published a major report into workplace support for victims of domestic abuse. This report follows a consultation that took place between June and November 2020 and aims to identify the measures that could be put into place in the workplace by the Government and employers to support those experiencing domestic abuse.

Last year, Farrer and Co’s Safeguarding Unit published a major Guide for Employers on Domestic Abuse which covers many of the issues raised in the Government’s review. Domestic abuse is certainly an area where there is now, more than ever, pressure on organisations across all sectors to play their part and support victims and survivors of this form of abuse in the workplace.

Maria Strauss, a Partner in the Safeguarding Unit, who sat on a committee of employment lawyers responding to the Government’s review last summer, has analysed the report. To read more, please click here.
